"There are different gifts, but the same Spirit and there are different ministries, but the same Lord"
1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-5
Ordained Ministers
Reverend Canon Kim Lepley
The church has been talking about Mission and Ministry teams for several years and it is a joy to be part of a group of churches that recognise the need to work alongside each other, supporting not just the ministry teams but each other as we endeavour to share the Gospel in each of our contexts.
We are told in Scripture that we are ‘One Body’, ‘One Church’ and this is acknowledged in the creating of the MMU.
It does not neglect however the fact that each parish church remains, in its own right autonomous and that the Parish holds on to that which makes it unique. What we do recognise however is that we are united in our mission, and ambition to share God’s story, supporting one another both as individuals and parishes.

Reverend Gary Edwards
Welcome, I’m Gary and I was ordained at Chelmsford Cathedral in September, 2019. It is a privilege and a joy to have served in the Ashingdon benefice, and now in the wider Pearl Cluster of Churches since that time. Prior to coming to ordination, I have worked in the financial, policing and educational sectors in various roles. I possess a heart for pastoral ministry; while sharing a passion for seeing people come to faith through Christ’s invitation in the Spirit.

I was ordained in 2014, having been part of Holy Trinity, Rayleigh and of its churchplant, Grovewood, for many years. My previous career was in social work. I trained at St Mellitus and served my curacy in Grays before moving to St James and St Barnabas in Hadleigh where I was Rector and Vicar until retiring and moving back to Rayleigh. I am married to Stuart and have two sons, Josh who is married to Emma and has two children, and Joel who is with Arina and lives in Tbilisi in Georgia. Stuart was brought up a Methodist, so we now worship at Rayleigh Methodist Church and I lead the occasional service there. However, I do still like an Anglican service, and so have offered to be part of the team serving the Pearl Cluster. I believe small churches are very important with a great mission to share God’s love with the folk around, and am delighted to be helping with this.
